PubChem Genes

PubChem Gene pages present PubChem data available for a given gene.  The information presented on these pages includes bioactivity data of chemicals that are tested against the corresponding gene (or protein encoded by it), along with annotations on the gene collected from authoritative and curated sources.

More detailed information on PubChem Gene pages can be found in the following paper:

Gene Example:

If you would like a summary of what is known about the activity of the gene EGFR, just go to this webpage:

https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/gene/EGFR

You can access the organism-specific gene target page using any of the following three ways:

https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/gene/EGFR/human  (by NCBI Taxonomy common name)

https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/gene/EGFR/Homo_sapiens (by NCBI Taxonomy scientific name)

https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/gene/1956 (by NCBI GeneID)

Programmatic access

The annotation data presented on the Gene pages can be downloaded programmatically through PubChem's REST-like interface called PUG-View

The PUG-View request URLs contain a record identifier (e.g., NCBI Gene ID), as shown in the following example:
